"Is Coming Back A Mistake? I Don't Know" - Fan-Translation And ROM Hack Site CDRomance Gets Rebooted

"The atmosphere in the emulation community was pretty rough".

Back at the start of 2024, fan-translation and ROM hack sharing site CDRomance was forced to take its operations 'underground' following threats of legal action.

Then, at the close of the year, it was announced that the site was effectively dead and would no longer be updated with content. "The reason for this change is that the landscape has shifted dramatically in recent years, and we could benefit from reduced exposure," said webmaster Spike at the time.

Read the full article on timeextension.com

Another Game Boy Classic Is Getting The 'DX' Colourisation Treatment

Tiny Toons: Bab's Big Break.

Konami was on fire during the early years of the Game Boy, and produced a string of hits such as Operation C / Contra, Nemesis, Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge, TMNT: Fall of the Foot Clan and Tiny Toon Adventures: Babs' Big Break.

The latter title is currently being redeveloped as an unofficial 'DX' update for Game Boy Color by French translator and hacker Brand Newman, which pleases me massively as it remains one of the favourite Game Boy releases.

Read the full article on timeextension.com

Miyamoto's "Forgotten" Game Boy Masterpiece Mole Mania Gets The Unofficial 'DX' Treatment

Nintendo refreshed the monochrome portable with the Game Boy Pocket, and, on the same day in Japan, it released Mole Mania, a title produced by none other than Shigeru Miyamoto.

Considered to be something of a 'forgotten' classic on the system (although it has become pretty well-known in recent years), Mole Mania is an action puzzler starring Muddy, a mole who is capable of digging into the earth in order to overcome obstacles.

Read the full article on timeextension.com

These New SNES ROM Hacks Aim To Make The Super Star Wars Trilogy A Whole Lot Fairer

'Super Star Wars Trilogy Redux!' available now.

Whenever the Super Star Wars Trilogy is mentioned today, it's usually not that long before the game's difficulty is brought up in conversation.

Developed in the early '90s by LucasArts and Sculptured Software for the Super Nintendo, the trilogy of games, which includes Super Star Wars, Super Empire Strikes Back, and Super Return of the Jedi, has earned a reputation over the years for being notoriously difficult. This is in part due to the overwhelming amount of enemies found within these games, which constantly swarm the player at every possible turn, and respawn almost as quickly as they are dispatched.

Read the full article on timeextension.com
